VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The Brevard Cultural Alliance is currently recruiting volunteers for the 2011 Art of Sand. Whatever your talent and schedule; we will find the perfect job for you.

Afternoon and early evening hours are available Sunday, Tuesday - Thursday and morning, afternoon and early evening on Friday and Saturday.

Volunteers are crucial in making Art of Sand a success. You are invited to work throughout the entire event or to help with whichever events fit your schedule. Volunteers are also invited to enjoy the Art of Sand before or after their shift each day.

The positions needed include:

*Requires long periods of standing or walking. Shifts are 4 hours in length unless otherwise noted.

  • Ushers- collect admission tickets along with directing patrons through concourse and event areas.*
  • Parking Lot Attendants - collect money, direct traffic through lot and into designated parking spots at one of 3 public gates. Parking volunteer shifts are 2 hours in length. All Parking Volunteers are required to wear safety vest. *
  • Youth Activity – assist staff with designated area designed for children’s projects. Also assist with school groups. *
  • Corporate Challenge (Oct. 15th) –act as liaison and information source for groups participating in this event. *
  • Central Station – provide information to patrons about the event. Handle vendor and volunteer check-in and scheduling.
  • Floaters – relieve volunteers and staff for breaks. Fill in when needed. *
  • Performer Liaisons - Assist Stage Manager Staff, Cue entertainers to get ready. Refresh Green Room. *

  • Docents – act as tour guides. They are able to speak to and educate patrons about the sculptures, sculptors and the event. *
  • Handicap area – in addition to collecting admission tickets and directing patrons through concourse and event areas, volunteers will coordinate golf cart transport. *
  • Golf Cart Drivers - transport patrons to and from Parking Lot to box office, assist with vendor set-up and transporting supplies.
  • Announcer - Operate Stadium speakers for announcements. Operate billboard for sponsor ads Volunteer must have proven A/V experience.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Festival is scheduled for October 14-23, 2011 and volunteers will be needed not only for during the event, but also for the “pound-up” (advance preparation) of the site and for tear down after the event ends.  You may also call 321-690-6817 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. We have many exciting elements this year that will make the event a great success! We need the help of volunteers to make the Art of Sand a safe, enjoyable, and fun experience for our thousands of visitors.

4 Hour Shifts needed for:

· greeters

· ushers/ticket takers

· youth activity area facilitators

· golf cart drivers

· parking attendants

· assistance with entertainment

· docents for the sculptures

· site set-up and tear down

· and more
