Secondary Field Trip Day:                        October 19

Schools Sand Sculpting Competition:   October 22

Come and have some fun at the Art of Sand Festival!

As part of this important arts and cultural event, schools are invited to participate in educational activities created to facilitate and enhance their participation.

  • BCA is offering a reduced admission price of $3 per student for school field trip attendees to the festival. School field trips must book their visit to the Art of Sand in advance. Parking for buses or other means of transportation is free.
  • Brevard Cultural Alliance will also distribute to every BPS student a ticket voucher for one free student admission with one paid adult admission. This voucher may be redeemed with the purchase of an adult ticket at regular price at any time during the festival.
  • As a form of enhancing the educational aspects of the visit, curriculum-integrated activity guides (PDF files) can be used prior to or during the visit and are available at www.artofsand.org. Students will have also the opportunity to create their own sand sculptures in the Youth Activity Area where sand plots and tools will be available.
  • Another exciting way for schools to participate in this event is through the Schools Sand Sculpting Competition on Saturday, October 22, 2011, from 12:00 noon - 5:00pm; registration begins at 10:00am. Admission to the event is free for all competing students, teachers/coaches, and 1 chaperone per participating student. Participation is limited to the first 10 teams. Teams may include students of any grade within the category with a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 students per team. There must be at least one lead teacher/coach per team. BCA will present a free sand sculpting workshop for coaches and students at 10:30am. Awards and Best of Show will be presented at 5:30pm.
  • Schools are also invited to perform dance routines, songs, band numbers or other presentations on the stage during the day on Saturdays or Sundays.
