 Grand Entrance Sculptors:

Jim Richardson's sand sculptures at the Grand Entrance to the Art of Sand  Festival will include logos of high level sponsors for the event.  A  longtime resident of Brevard County, Jim has lived in Palm Bay for over 40 years. In 1981 Jim won the grand prize in the sand sculpture competition in Paradise Beach.

Years later an admirer of his sculpture on Paradise Beach invited him to sculpt sand at a special event at Disney. Before he knew it, Jim combined his career at the Brevard County Health Department with his work as a sand sculptor.  The reaction of the spectators watching him create is what delights Jim most. He loves it when his sculptures put smiles on faces. His works always tell a story and there are always delightful little details hidden in his sculptures.

Jim will also be part of the Space Coast Open Challenge Competition.

Suzanne Altamare of Daytona Beach, Florida finds her specialty in sand sculpting is sea life.  Her artistry will be

evident at the Grand Entrance to the Art of Sand Festival.

Suzanne specializes in soft sand, a pure technique that uses only simple tools and minimal water. Her work has helped popularize this ephemeral art form, mesmerizing people of all ages and backgrounds as they watch her transform piles of sand into amazing sculptures.

She is a performance artist who enjoys talking to the public as she works. Her sculptures are limited only by the imagination; some of her favorite subjects include antique motorcycles, cars, sea life, seashells, flowers, animals, and logos. She credits her late husband, Marc Altamare, for her sand sculpting knowledge.
