| Family & Amateur Sand Sculpting Competition | As a part of the Art of Sand festivities everyone will be given an opportunity to carve their own sand sculpture masterpiece. Can you and your friends make wonderful art together? Have you always wondered if you too can sculpt sand? Have you always wanted to compete in a sand sculpting face off against your classmates? Does your family have a fantastic time on the beach making castles? Do you want to share the creative and fun loving side of your business with the whole world? Is your son or daughter a little Michelangelo of the sandbox?
Come to the Art of Sand! If you sign up your own spot of with the most beautiful white sand is waiting for you. You and your team can make whatever you want only using sand and water!
Amateur and Families Competition the final weekend of the event - April 30 and May 1.
Rules:
- Contest starts at 11:00 a.m. No shoveling or digging in advance or you may be disqualified.
- Contest ends at 3:00 p.m. No sculpting is allowed after that time or you may be disqualified.
- You must provide your own tools, buckets, supplies, forms, food, beverages, shade and sun screen
- Sculptures should be carved in the round. Forms are allowed, but all forms must be removed by the end of the sculpting time.
- No artificial coloring, machinery or decorations allowed.
- Un-sportsman like behavior will not be tolerated. Any violators will be disqualified and be asked to leave the event.
- Awards on entertainment stage following the competitions, both days.
- The decisions of the judges are final.
Judging:
Sculptures will be judged using the following criteria:
- Originality and imagination
- Degree of difficulty
- Artistic Merit
Winners will be announced at 4:00 p.m. on the Main Stage
